THE BEGINNING

The Keyris are the people who originated from Keyria, a vast desert which was once under a deep ocean in prehistoric times. The environment is cool, dry, and windy, under an almost constant blanket of dust clouds. The Keyris managed to survive and live in Keyria for so long for two reasons. One is because the Immelseylian river that comes from the west, and provided Keyris people with water to drink and grow crops from. The second reason is because it's where Alsu-Kawn first appeared to humanity. Alsu-Kawn told the Keyris that a drought was coming and that they would not survive unless they travelled north to a town called Derev in the country of Imalia. There they would find food and shelter, and would be welcomed by the Imalyans.

Alsu-Kawn then gave them the first ever sanctai, for extra security on their travels. This would be the sanctai of all-knowing, and it was given to a young Keyris man known as Gael. Alsu-Kawn then assigned the family name of Siyal to be the first ever sanctai traders, and to protect Gael until his death.

Before leaving Alsu-Kawn explained that if the Keyris listened and survived the drought and journey, there would be many more divine gifts for humanity.

ALSU-KAWN’S UPPERHAND

The Keyris have tried venturing away from their land before but nobody had ever come back. They lacked in navigation skills and survived better in their protected towns, in large groups being able to fend off the prehistoric spirits that came to life at night. Alsu-Kawn leading the Keyris to Derev would in itself—drought or not—significantly benefit the Keyris.

MESSAGES FROM GOD

Alsu-Kawn appeared in beams of light from the sky, and on clear nights, could be seen as a sphere far off in space. This is one reason why religious items and symbols contain so many circular shapes and stars, the other reason being behind symbolism of sanctai (the star shape representing the nerves and glands behind the eye). Modern day messages still appear as beams of light—although usually pinhole small—since Alsu-Kawn sends out far more messages at a time compared to ancient times.
